7 Key Factors to Fitness Success

When it comes to reaching your fitness goals, we know that it takes a bit more effort than just monitoring your calories and working out a couple days a week.

These seven factors play a HUGE role in how successful you are in reaching your goals.

1. Consistency

If you want to make progress, you need to stay consistent! PERIOD. It takes about four weeks for you to start noticing change in your body and about eight weeks for others to notice. My point? Results take TIME. Consistency is key!

2. Adherence

How well are you adhering to the program? To your calories and macros? You need to be committed to your progress day in and day out.

3. Level of intensity during workouts

I’m not sold on the “no pain, no gain” motto but you definitely need a certain level of intensity during your workouts to provide a stimulus to your muscles and nervous system to solicit change.

4. Your training program

This should be a progressive strength training program that changes up every 4-weeks. Our bodies are very good at adapting so making sure the program you follow is PROGRESSIVE is key.

5. Macros and calories

If weight loss is your goal, you need to be eating below your maintenance level in calories and macros to lose weight. Want to gain muscle? You need to eat more than your maintenance in calories and macros.

6. Managing stress/your thoughts: underrated but SO important

Making sure you take the time for your mental health everyday MATTERS. Stress can literally prevent change from happening so managing stress is key. I’m a big advocate for meditation.

7. Sleep

It’s an intricate part of getting results overall. Without rest and recovery, we cannot build. Make sure you’re getting 7-8 hours.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here’s the thing: although macros and calories ARE indeed extremely important, not all emphasis and blame should be pointed to your training regimen and diet.⠀⠀

This is why I coach my clients not only with their workouts and nutrition, but also on effectively managing their stress and developing a regular sleep routine because IT ALL MATTERS.

By making yourself aware of the importance of these other factors that play a part in getting results, you’ll be less likely to fall victim to aimlessly dropping calories and/or mindlessly adding more and more cardio into your program.⠀

Not sure how to progress yourself in your training program? Or want to know where your caloric maintenance level is currently at?

Remember, results take time but they also take some serious thought. Sometimes that might mean having a coach in your corner to help you along the way.
