8 MUST KNOW Facts You Should be Aware of Before You Start Microdosing with Psilocybin

*Please note I am not a doctor nor is this medical advice. I am not supplying any illegal drugs nor will I assist you or advise you on where to get them. I cannot and will not tell you where and how to get access to them.

The numerous studies currently underway revealing the benefits of microdosing is astounding. Although the only state to legalize psilocybin mushrooms to date is Oregon, many studies across the country and world are currently studying why there might be a place for this medicine in the future of our healthcare system.

Maybe you’ve been diving into the research yourself and feel called to learn more about it. I’m glad you landed here on my page.

I’ve personally been microdosing with psilocybin for the past two years and I know what this amazing medicine has done for me because I FEEL the difference in my mind and body.

Here’s everything you need to know before you begin microdosing with psilocybin,

1. If you take any kind of SSRI’s or have any history of mental illness, you should NOT microdose with psilocybin

If you currently take SSRI’s but are looking to get off of them in hopes to begin microdising, consult with your doctor first as weaning off of SSRI’s is a serious task and you should have professional medical support to help you.

2. Make sure your source is credible

There are a lot of fakes out there especially in the online space so make sure to do your own research and find a credible source you trust. Growing your own is also a sure fire way to make sure what you take is actually good stuff (Again, I am not advising you to do this in any state where this is illegal. It is still a schedule one drug in most of the USA!).

3. Find your why

You’’ want to set time for yourself and dig deep as to what you really want to get out of this experience. Take some time by yourself in a quiet environment to candidly journal your answers. Whether your experienced or not with the medicine, it’s important to get clear on where you’re at in your life and your intentions before diving in.

4. Understand microdosing alone is NOT a magic pill

If you’re under the impression that microdosing will cure all your problems, you’re 100% wrong. I strongly suggest avoiding alcohol while on your microdosing journey as in my experience it cancels out it’s benefits. I DO recommend pairing your microdose with weekly exercise (at least 3x a week), a healthy, well balanced diet, regular sunlight, consistent daily meditation and/or breath work and journaling.

5. Choose a protocol!

Following a “protocol” or a schedule to follow when microdosing is important because it allows you to observe the effects of microdosing on yourself. All of them schedule 2 to 4 weeks of rest after you have completed a 4 to 8 week microdosing journey is crucial. Below are a few of my favorite microsing protocols:

Staments protocol: You’d cycle on for four days and off for three days OR cycle on for five days and off for two. It’s recommended you cycle off in any given week for at least 1-2 days. This is the ones I’ve done in the past and the 4/3 was the one I found always worked best for me.

Fadiman Protocol: Cycle on for one day, off for two days OR choosing two fixed days in any given week.

Microdosing institutes protocol: Cycle on and off for every other day OR following the “nightcap” protocol which is to cycle on for one evening and then off the next.

Intuitive microdosing protocol: You would intuitively choose which days throughout any given week to be “on” with one exception- you cycle off for at least one day throughout the week.

6. Find your “sweet spot”

EveryBODY is different- period. We all metabolize foods and medicine differently based on our lean mass, hormones and genetics. That means how I feel taking a certain dosage of medicine is going to be experienced completely differently than how you feel taking that same amount.

A microdosing “sweet spot” just means taking a sub perceptual dose that feels good for YOU. It might take a week or so for you to find your own sweet spot. You might feel great taking a low dose in the morning on an empty stomach, or maybe you prefer to take it with a light breakfast. Maybe you tend to get a little sleepy from your dose so you might prefer to take it at night.

Whatever you find works best for you, just remember to start LOW and start SLOW. You should also consider starting on a weekend when you don’t have too many obligations going on. If you feel you took too low of a dose on a particular day, no need to dose with more that day. Just take slightly more the following day and observe how you feel.

7. Keep a consistent journal

Through conversations within my communities, I've seen those who get the most out of their microdosing practices also embark on a journey of personal growth, using microdosing as a tool to help them make some amazing breakthroughs and shifts in their daily lives. Journaling daily during your microdosing journey can help you quickly identify what changes are taking place, as well as help you optimize your practice over time.

8. Stay on your schedule for at least a month

You want to give your body and your mind time to process the changes happening internally and only giving the medicine a week's time won’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things. I recommend picking your sweet spot, choosing a protocol, and following that protocol for at least one month. The following month cycle off and then the next month (month 3) cycle back on. The goal in doing this is to avoid building up a tolerance and to allow the medicine to work it’s magic during that off month.

If you stay consistent with your schedule, take care of your mind and body throughout the process, you’ll start to notice the benefits around month two of being on your protocol. Most importantly, take your time, start low and slow and be patient. Track your bio feedback in your body and try to get outside as often as possible.
