Why eats Complex Carbs? How are they different then simple carbs?

Okay so here is the deal. Complex carbs....

  • Keep you fuller longer
  • They digest better in the body
  • They can help you lose weight! (Yep, it's true)
  • They keep your heart healthy!

So what are some examples of complex carbs?

  • skim milk
  • yogurt
  • lentils
  • chick peas
  • whole wheat/grain bread
  • oats
  • quinoa
  • potatoes
  • tomatoes
  • broccoli

Some people think that cutting out carbs is the answer to weight loss. This is totally not the case. I’m here to let you know that eating carbs is actually an important part of staying healthy and by no means is it necessary to completely cut out a macronutrient food group.

The timing and choice of carbs is what matters most. I like to eat carbs before my workouts and after. I usually stick to yams, rice, and quinoa. I also eat broccoli on the regular a s well.
