Microdosing with LSD vs. Psilocybin

*Please note I am not a doctor nor is this medical advice. I am not supplying any illegal drugs nor will I assist you or advise you on where to get them. I cannot and will not tell you where and how to get them. All content provided here by me is for educational and harm reduction purposes only and based on my own opinion and lived experiences.

When it comes to microdosing, I’ve been experimenting with psilocybin for over three years, but LSD was a whole new ballgame.

The benefits I’ve experienced from microdosing with psilocybin have been eye opening. Most notably, feeling more joyful, grounded, more introspective and more emotionally open. I also experienced less spiraling thoughts and an increased ability to be “kinder” to myself. I also felt more connected to nature and animals and experienced less severe PMS symptoms, which led me to believe there is an anti-inflammatory component to psilocybin (I am not a doctor, just observing my findings and stating those observations from my personal experience). All of these side effects were gradually realized after 3.5 years.

My frequency with microdosing with psilocybin has dwindled. Not for any good reason, but simply because the longer you administer, the less you “need” it. Not that we “need” any substance to feel normal, but with tolerance build ups, after a few years the same substance may not have the same effect it once did when you start to administer. Plus, this medicine HEALS, and once you give it enough time, you can overcome a large amount of trauma you maybe have been avoiding or not “looking at” for years, or even decades.

Thus, my decision to mix it up and give good ol’ LSD a try!

The only experiences I’ve had on LSD have been full macrodoses at burning man in a recreational setting; non-intentional, not taking the set and setting into consideration and strictly using it for “fun.” Not a bad thing, just a different way to experience the substance. So the idea of microdosing with LSD with intention, journaling and monitoring my body's feedback for 30-days excited me. I was amped to dive in.

I used the same approach when I began as I did with psilocybin: start low and slow, journal and take breaks throughout the course of the month.

Here’s what I found by the end of my 30-day microdosing trial with LSD.

More energy

This was a “clean” type of energy. Sometimes, when I would take a little too much psilocybin in the past, it could make me feel jittery and a bit anxious. I have to say, I never got this feeling from LSD. It was smooth sailing for the whole month.

More “outwardly” focused

What do I mean by this? Psilocybin made me feel more internally connected to myself, nature, other people and even animals. LSD allowed me to focus more on tasks that needed to get done. Aka work related stuff.

I felt happier

Maybe I once did have this same effect from psilocybin, but it felt more noticeable on LSD. I felt my mood was better sustained throughout the day and even the days following after taking a microdose.

More productive (on tasks vs inner work)

Psilocybin often had me looking in my internal landscape, versus with LSD, I was hyper focused on tangible tasks. Less focused on myself, more focused on getting shit done.

Better sustained energy throughout the week

So compared to psilocybin, I did feel like my energy throughout the entire week was higher. The effects seemed to last longer and gave me more streamlined energy even on the days I wasn’t administering.

Less frequency in administering

Because the effects seemed to last longer, my dosing days weren’t as frequent compared to when I take psilocybin. This meant I was going through less product which is useful to consider if you’re looking to make your substance last longer.

Less connected to intuition (compared to psilocybin)

Okay, hear me out. My brother passed away about a year ago and when I was microdosing on psilocybin, I swear I was getting daily signs from him (butterflies, coins, ladybugs, rainbows, hummingbirds, etc). Now, you can equate this to where I was in my grief/healing journey, sure. But overall, I personally felt less connected to my intuition on LSD compared to psilocybin. More connected to the 3-D world vs the “unseen” world. Not a bad thing, just….different.

Overall, yes, the two substances, LSD and psilocybin are similar when it comes to the feelings you get from microdosing.

But if I had to point out the most obvious differences, I would say LSD tends to make you feel more outwardly productive. More focused on tasks, problem solving. LSD leaves you with more energy and general feelings of happiness. Versus psilocybin: more introspective, much more connected and grounded to nature, possibly helpful when it comes to lowering inflammation in the body (again, in my experience with the severity of cramps and PMS symptoms). Psilocybin also gives you more of an opportunity to go inward v s LSD; more outward.

Both of these substances worked well for me and eventually, I plan on cycling back onto LSD and giving it another go-around for round two. I hope this information serves you well enough to make the best decision for yourself to help you embark on your own microdosing journey should you want to dive in yourself.
