If you grew up in the 90’s, chances are you spent many Friday nights glued to the television, munching on something like gushers, dunk-a-roos, or shark bites while patiently waiting for the Friday night line-up of Nickelodeon’s “SNICK.”  SNICK was a two-hour programming block run on Nickelodeon every Friday night geared specifically toward pre-teens.

If you’re unfamiliar with the show, All That was sort of like the kids version of SNL. It aired from 1994 until the early 2000’s. It was a sketch comedy featuring all the best kid comedians at the time like Angelique Bates, Lori Beth Denberg, Katrina Johnson, Nick Cannon, Amanda Bynes, Kel Mitchell, Alisa Reyes, Josh Server, and Kenan Thompson.

All That was special because it was made by kids, FOR kids. It was funny, had a number of unique characters in every sketch, had relevant musicians and comedians as guest stars of the time, (Chris Farley, Aaliyah, Coolio, Blackstreet, Usher and Da Brat, just to name a few)  and accurately depicted the 90’s culture to a T.

TLC, an iconic 90’s R&B group, was also responsible for creating the opening theme song, titled, All That, which only added points to the overall cool factor of the show.  From the clothes they wore, the music they listened to and the slang used when speaking to one another, the show was a clear and accurate depiction of our childhood pre-internet days and it was, most definitely, ALL THAT (and a bag of chips).

Watching All That was like hanging out with the cool kids in school every Friday night- except you were able to do it from the comfort of your own home while laid up on the couch, noshing on a bag of cheese doodles.

So, will the re-make be as good? Here’s what we know so far:

  • It’s supposed to air this Summer, 2019.

  • Kenan Thompson was appointed to be the executive producer of the show.

  • According to Thompson, the original cast is still  close and will return in some aspect for the reboot - YAY!

  • We’re told the sketches will be sort of a mash-up of the old but also a lot of new ones.

I don’t know about you but I’m pumped (clearly.)!!

Shall we reminisce? Here are my top 10 favorite sketches of all time from the 90’s show, All That. Hopefully the re-make will include some of these classic goodies:
